Week of 2/1/16

Students will take a test on Chapter 3B Wednesday, 2/3/16.
Homework Monday. Study for test Tuesday.
Great job completing call-in assessment!!!

Due Friday, February 5, 2016
Group Project: Students may film inside or out of school.
Task: Write and film a commercial/public service announcement for how to maintain your health for teenagers.
Objectives:
1. Students will present rehearsed information on a variety of topics such as self, school, family, and home life.
2. Students will discuss foods, drinks, and activities to maintain health.
Written part:
Write a script for your commercial indicating who says which part.
Include at least 2 foods, 2 drinks, and 4 activities that can be helpful for maintaining health.
Include at least one food, one drink, and one activity that is bad for your health.
 Grading criteria:
20 pts: Script is written with accurate grammar and content.
20 pts: The idea is conveyed clearly and all required elements were present in script and video.
20 pts: Video was complete. Effort was made to present the information in a creative manner that is also clearly related to the topic.
20 pts: Pronunciation and spoken grammar is clear and easy to understand.

80 pts total possible.

Food Unit Ch. 3a and 3b

Students are testing on Ch. 3a Monday and will begin classwork on 3b on Tuesday.
If students were absent they must make up the 3a test upon returning to class.

Important: Students will have a  call in assessment due by Friday January 29, 2016 @ 11:59.
The number to call is 678-337-1812.

Students must do the following in Spanish.

  1. Greet me
  2. Tell me their name and what period they have Spanish.
  3. Tell me the time and date of their call.
  4. Students must tell me what they eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner,
  5. Students must tell me what they love to eat and why.
  6. Students must tell me what they never eat and why.
  7. Students must tell me what they do to maintain their health.
  8. Say good-bye.
Example:
Hola Sra. Hernandez.
Me llamo Mickey Mouse. Tengo la clase de Espanol en la segunda hora.
Hoy es el 30 de enero y son las ocho.
Yo como huevos en el desayuno, la pizza en el almuerzo, y bistec en la cena.
Me encanta el queso. Es muy sabroso.
Nunca como papas fritas porque son malas para la salud.
Para mantener la salud hago ejercicio y bebo mucha agua.
Adios.

Students will have a test over Chapter 3b on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016.

Students will be able to discuss dinner foods and beverages.
Students will be able to describe what people and or things are like.
Students will be able to discuss food, health, and exercise choices.

Homework Wednesday and Thursday.

We will practice listening daily. I respond warm-ups daily.

Feliz Año! Chap. 2b

Dear Families,
I am so happy to be back! I think 2016 will be a fantastic year. We only have 5 months left to master the skills necessary to move on to Spanish 2. So far, I am pleased with the progress students are making.
If students didn't complete the call in assessment, please have them complete it by Friday 1-8-16.

Capitulo 2b

Students began learning these concepts before the break. We are starting over but at a more accelerated pace. We have a quiz on Friday, January 8 on the vocabulary from this chapter.

Chapter Objectives: Students will be able to ask and tell about location of people and objects using the verb estar and prepositional phrases.

Students will comprehend while reading and listening to passages about classroom items and location.

There will be a test on vocabulary and Chapter concepts on Friday 1/8/2016.

Students should study the vocabulary every night. They will receive another paper copy of the vocabulary on Wednesday January 6.

There will graded listening and writing activities on this week as well as the vocabulary quiz (35and call in assessment (40%). 
Students will also receive participation grades for talking in Spanish in class.
